Theme
Play and Nature
Method
I spent 2 hours outside CBD collecting leaves and sticks from certain locations.
I also recorded my walking route using Google Maps.
After going back home, I arranged leaves and sticks on the floor to present the route I walked.
Context
This week’s response is mostly related to Physical play. Physical play  includes activities that use physical movements to allow people to use their energy. It helps people to develop motor skills, socialization, personal awareness, language, creativity and problem solving. The second type of play used in the response is Constructive Play, Constructive play teaches kids about manipulation, building, and fitting things together. In this week's project, I developed my conceptual knowledge by posing questions, testing ideas, and gathering information.  I created a drawing using the data on Google Map and testing the ideas of making a ‘map’ with the  leaves and sticks I gathered around the city.

The idea is inspired by this  news:  Lenny Maughan is a runner who likes creating images on Etch-a-Sketch when he was little. He combined his interest  with hobby by running around the city and create artwork on route-tracking apps. In an interview, he mentioned he”  wanted to do something different and something original.” In my work, I want to make the process related to nature, so I added several steps. The map size I created was also much smaller.

Reflection
This is probably the most body-strength-consuming response I’ve ever created. I was going to walk further to cover the northern part of the city, but I was too tired to continue. The original plan was going to collect some items related to the location. For example, collecting paper from a library. However, I soon realized that I could run into problems finding stuff using this method since the response needs to relate to nature. The final plan is to use leaves because leaves are easy to find and easy to carry. I have a hard time finding leaves at certain locations, especially at locations with lots of people. Flinders Street Railway Station, for example, has no leaves.  The walking distance is also longer and less complicated than I thought. I collected extra sticks just to make sure I can perfectly create the route I walked but when I turned on the google map website after going home, the shape is almost like a rectangle(with a little twist and turn on the edge). One thing I did not expect is the weather, it was a little bit rainy, and the wind was so huge that it flipped my umbrella.
To improve this work, I should probably spend more time planning the locations instead of just making them look like a rectangle. It will probably be more related to the theme if I draw a huge leaf on Google Map.
