Method

I am very happy to see the concept of this week because it fits the direction of my experiment very well. I chose the concept of “opposite” to practice, happy and sad. Even the seventh week of practice is very consistent with the concept of “opposite”. In terms of color I chose the complementary colors blue and pink. For the choice of footage, the girl's facial expression changed from depressed to happy.

I used animation to draw the girl’s happy emotions and sad emotions respectively and finally studied how to transform the emotions, combining two videos with opposing emotions into one.

Results and discussion: I still use the method of masking the face, which will visually make the audience focus on the animation. I feel through practice, the difficulty lies in how to make the transition. Because if the facial expressions only have lines, they can be changed through shape changes. The shape of the mouth changes from drooping to rising, but how to transform the color is a focus of my thinking. Finally, I came up with a method of gradual color, from showing sad blue to pink which symbolizes happiness.

Doing this exercise made me think that the transition in the animation can not only change through shape changes but also through color gradients. This is a good aspect. Unfortunately, in this exercise, the final transition part is not very rhythmic. Good grasp, so the transition effect is not very obvious.

In my studio project too, the transition is a difficult point, I don’t have a good grasp at the moment, and because my project is non-linear, it is mostly scattered fragments, so this part is not well used in the studio project. , This is also the direction I will strive for in the future.
