In response to the theme of 'TIme' I created an animated illustration using Procreate on the iPad. By showing a character trapped within a single moment I wanted to demonstrate how our understanding of time can be static and fluid all at once. Once that moment has passed into memory, it becomes distorted, rearranging itself every time that memory is recalled.

I was inspired by the works of Hibiki Yoshizaki, in particular the graphic and compelling animated music video 'Me!Me!Me!'  which loops around into a single exact moment, and uses colourful, distorted digital aesthetics along with body horror and pseudo-pornographic imagery to critique the otaku phenomena and it's relationship to japanese media and the sexualisation of young women.

Me!Me!Me!. 2015. [video] Directed by Y. Hibiki. Japan: Japan Animator Expo.
