In response to the theme of Object Oriented Ontology, I created a black&white comic-style illustration of a melting chessboard in procreate. By showing the Go chessboard melting along the rugged edges of the rocks, which assimilates (metaphorizes) with the waterfall flowing along the mountains in the background, I showed that without human use, the object would eventually become a part of nature. Similar work has been produced by Salvador Dalí, whose Surrealism painting ‘The Persistence of Memory’ uses the melting flaccid clocks to show the distortion of space and time. (Dalí, 1931)
