Context

This week’s theme is about myself. Seeing this topic, I didn't have a clue at first, so I found some videos for inspiration, and then I found out about self-competitive gameplay.( https://youtu.be/OBcjhp4KSgQ ) Using a model to simulate oneself for competitive games is a very common method in the market, similar to RPG games. This is an idea but not new. Next, I found a video about cats, which gave me a lot of inspiration. ( https://youtu.be/j-qoCXmkZhY) First of all, with the theme of self, the goal can be everything that is considered self. In the video, the owner made a toy for the cat that the cat can play with itself, so that the theme of play and self is established. From this I think that when playing with self, self can be the main character in the game, or it can be a kind of will of the character. I want to create a unique game from this divergent thinking. I try to find some interesting points from myself to realize the definition of play. I am a person who likes cats very much, and I have a cat myself. But I have a very serious allergy to cats, so I can't hold the cat to sleep. Just yesterday I went to play with a cat at a friend's house and felt a little uncomfortable. Therefore, I want to make a small game to express the dissatisfaction of a cat lover with a lovely style. This exercise will explore the gameplay brought by my own characteristics and resonate with other players who have the same experience.

Method

I practiced by Procreate. Although I only expressed it in drawing, it can be developed into a mobile game. Since this is a game that tests speed and response, I want to make its style a little weird and cute. I think this is more attractive to players who have shared experiences with me.

Response

The player is set to be a cat lover, who needs to react quickly, get masks and allergy medicine, and hug more cats at the same time. In short, it is to ensure the balance between the three. As shown in the figure, the two poles above are panning left and right, and the speed will continue to increase over time. Players need to manipulate the hands on the screen according to the amount of items in the lower left corner to select appropriate items to pick up. If one of the three values is full or empty, the game is over. The duration of a round of this game determines how fast the player reacts. Because the longer the time, the faster the screen scrolls.

Reflection

I think the subject of self is not limited. It can refer to any person and thing, but it takes a specific goal to diverge thinking to get the desired idea. Then I think the practice is a very interesting game, and I am satisfied with my idea. Because this is my own thinking, the game has a certain degree of playability. This course of divergent thinking is very important. I even spend a day or two looking for inspiration. I think this is a good process. At the same time, I got a lot of inspiration from the work of others.
