We talked this week about movement and the effect of focus on narrative, and I also added some elements to the first storyboard.
This is a scene from one of my stories where my character, the traveler, fights a "duel" with a deranged urgur. In response to this week's theme, I started with a sketch storyboard, because I wanted random, flowing lines to represent the character movements and outline the special effects of the fight. I set it to be a majestic fall of thunder, falling from the sky, very aggressive. I also discussed exaggerated close-ups. I did a simple giant bear looking back, in contrast to the shrinking traveler in the distance, which might make it easier to understand the impact.
I was inspired by the brilliant artist Marty Cooper's "Aug(De) Reality", his doodles on plastic sheets of characters perfectly immersed in their environments, always conveying intense emotions.
