Work: Character drawings
This work explores the idea of creating a representative symbol for a group, context, or system. For this week, I wanted to pick up and delve into the story and context presented in Week 9.
In this case, the context of this story goes back to week 9, whose central axis is the abuse of the government by means of fines to the people when they step on a line, crack or similar things. By creating a character to represent government surveillance, I wanted to create a distinctive icon that is representative of the state. Thanks to this, this character in the narrative is used as a catalyst for social protest, making it a symbol of social repression.
This is why as a character, it must effectively represent the government's positions and policies. The character has AI, that allows it to demonstrate different moods, transmitting kindness when everything is calm but changing his speech being rigorous when people do not comply with the absurd law, without any mercy.
This work is similar to the work presented in the game Halo 3: ODST by Bungie, which presents an AI character called Superintendent, which is in charge of the infrastructure of a fictional city set in the game. Capable of showing different expressions, the Superintendent, per se, is not a symbol of repression but is a clear example of the centralization of operations leading to privacy violations, for example by recording all the conversations of people that live in the city.
