Illustrated and animated all the sprites for each musical creature - illustrations done in Photoshop; animations done in Unity.

I've tried to keep things simple by including a limited number of different states for each character:

  • Idle - when the creature is waiting to jump
  • Jump Up - when the creature jumps up and plays sound
  • Fall - when the creature falls down
  • Victory - when the creature dances after the music track ends

This was my first time doing full on character design illustrations in Photoshop, and my first time animating in Unity. The following Unity tutorials really helped:

After animating the cymbal at home and bringing it into the studio, Jadd showed me how to make the cymbal animator as a base, and use the animator override component in Unity to remap the same animations for each character (without having to duplicate work). Also showcased this at Unity Club.
