Concept

- How can local co-op games help in creating new friendships? I want to create a game that helps form new friendships. Set up the play area in a way so that new, shy people can open up to each other.

Rationale: Intention

- I want to experiment with the concept of making local multiplayer games. Especially making a couch party game on PC. I have noticed that there has been a lack of couch party games on PC platforms compared to consoles on the market.

Context: Field

- This work has been done in many video games and they are:

Couch party: Brawhalla, Super-Smash Bros, Mount your friends and Gang Beasts.

One of my friend’s undergraduate games is called Cosmic Chaos. He takes the idea of couch party and implements it in his own game.

- I have also experienced that playing the same game at a gaming cafe with friends or people was a better experience compared to playing the same game at our own house alone. Playing the game with your friend was giving a lively vibe. It's also similar to playing karaoke at a karaoke place with your friends. You enjoy and sing (poorly or properly) with your friends.

Method: Conceptual, Technical, Craft & Management

- I will research how to implement multi-input controls in video games. The input will be using a generic Gamepad for now (Xbox or Playstation controllers).

- Mini-games. There will be several mini-games in which the players have to compete with each other to win.

- If there is time, use this idea to work on making simple low-poly environment models.

Production: Tools

- The tools I will use to create this project are Unity (Cinemachine, Scripting, Post-Processing), Blender, Project Management Tool (Trello, Asana), Photoshop or Substance Painter (if needed)

- Week 8: Project documentation with planning for the 5 weeks. Tutorial and mini-game prototypes drawn on paper. List of mini-game prototypes.

- Week 9: Level grey boxing and implement 2-player controls with the new Unity Input System. Finish up the platform duel game mode greybox and prototype.

- Week 10: Create the player controllers for 2nd mini-game prototype (hot potato game mode). Even finish up the greybox level for hot potato game mode.

- Week 11: Finish up implementing all the mini-game prototypes, refine and finalize them. Play-test the game and polish out the game.

- Week 12: Play-test the game and polish out the game even more

Outcomes: What outcomes will this folio produce, which forms?

- A finished prototype video game with at least 2 mini-game levels.

- At least 2 players can play the game with each other.
